[Warded to Theodore] Please tell me that we haven't shifted all of our squad sanity over to Gryffindor.

[Private] I've learned many strange and wonderful things this week.
Well. Wonderful.
Kirke apparently has some sort of sick fascination with doing himself bodily harm. I wouldn't care so much except I'm honestly not fond of seeing people tortured mercilessly in front of me. And half the people in my House seem to be sadists on some level. Merlin, no one mentioned that requirement of being sorted into Slytherin when they put that hat on us.
--I wonder how different I'd be, had I been sorted into Gryffindor or Hufflepuff.
Also the sheer number of housemates I have who are complete sadists is vulgar. I need to distance myself from them, once I'm no longer here and no longer need them. Distance myself from them and their actions. I don't know.
If that's increasingly the way of the world, though, where viciousness is rewarded and celebrated, I'm not really sure--
I don't know.
I honestly don't.

[Private] I'll admit this here so I'm not tempted to do so elsewhere: I laughed.
Because honestly, Davis, what do you expect? That lot is exactly as violent and unstable as they claim we are, and you just don't provoke that kind of person.
Sometimes, I think I'm the only one in this house with any real survival instincts. Does no one remember the way things happened during fifth year? Having people able to get revenge for you doesn't make a whit of difference if you're knocked out or disappeared or dead. And, to be quite frank, if you're going to paint a target on yourself, I'm not going to stand in between you and the line of fire.
We're already reviled enough. We don't need to encourage open rebellion.
And what's worse is that when this all blows up properly--and it will, as history tells us time and time again--I'm going to be caught in the thick of it, just like the rest of them. Idiots. [/Private]So much drama after not even a week back. Should be an interesting end to the year, at this rate.

[Theodore] I have a request, and I'm not sure you'll like it very much.

[Private] Well. That was enlightening.
I feel like I should have guessed this somehow, but I'm not exactly the most perceptive about these sorts of things. Still, I hope no one else finds out. This school already cares too much when it's males and females intermingling and swapping spit, so I can't imagine how much shit he'd get for that.
And then there's the killing thing. Well, we knew things were heading that way, anyway, didn't we? Still. Still, it's one thing to think about it, and it's another thing to do it. And I'm not surprised that Greg did it, but it doesn't bode well for the rest of the year. No doubt, we'll have to learn it. No doubt we'll move up and up. And no doubt we'll all be murderers by the end of the year.
Normally, I'd call it a slippery slope, but it's right there, isn't it? And I suppose this is what a rock and a hard place looks like. [/Private]And that's our last Easter break gone. I must say, I shall miss it dearly.

[Private] If nothing else, yesterday was enlightening. Longbottom and Finnegan continue to be too stupid to live, but that's nothing new. About everyone was taking that assignment as seriously as expected, though there were a couple of surprises. I didn't realize Moon had a Muggle father. And I didn't realize that Vince was so-- bitter. Obviously he's bitter, because who wouldn't be, but he wasn't ranting about Muggles and mudbloods and that was unexpected.
I don't like unexpected things.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out where this is going. And if everyone would look at it objectively and stop crying about getting punished for being stupid, they'd realize that Amycus is actually a decent professor. Not sure, though, how I feel about some of them having the know-how to cast Unforgiveables. Should make patrols interesting, though.
Other thoughts, namely that I wonder if my fellow squad members realize that by constantly pushing buttons, they're basically begging idiots like Kirke, Cresswell, and Sloper to cause trouble. Oh well. Their funeral. [/Private][Vince]Alright? [/Vince][Moon]Alright, Moon? [/Moon]Ah, March. Behold the joyous occasion of springtime.

[Private] They're just as bad as they claim we are. Given the chance, they'll be just as cruel but say that they're doing it for moral reasons.
Trouble is, they've always been that way, just nobody realizes it because apparently, we're inherently evil and they're saints from Heaven above or Merlin-knows-what.
I hate this school so much.
It's worse, knowing that none of us were there to keep Cornfoot from getting his head bashed in. I didn't even know he was in the bloody IS, let alone that he'd get his arse kicked for it.
Well. No more of that. [Private][Cornfoot]Alright? [/Cornfoot]The hypocrisy and stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me.

[Private] It kind of figures.
About the dance last night, that is. Any other year, Longbottom might not've been the worst date, but then he had to go and grow a sense of morality and a spine and lose what little common sense he possessed in the process. Fuck's sake, is it that hard to keep yourself in line when your life's in danger? And, of course, he opens his stupid mouth and then I'm the one with the date hovering up off the ground the rest of the night, and having to drag him around by his foot. Merlin on a cracker, I don't know if I want to pound his face in more or theirs.
Four more months. I can deal with this shit four more months, and then it's over.
